Attic apartment 3 - hot and dark

Choose ground or first floor apartment as attic apartment is too hot and windows don't let in enough light. Mirror in bathroom fitted under eaves so too low to see yourself in if you're over 4ft tall. No long mirror in apartment either and bedroom too dark to use mirror over dressing table. Pelmets above windows and blinds hanging slightly below them block light so what little light the windows provide is further obscured by the window dressings. Was told there were only 2 floors so expected to be on first floor but attic is effectively third floor. BIG difficulty getting live TV for elderly aunt and uncle on ground floor as could only be viewed via apps which they couldn't navigate. Also difficulty getting live TV in own apartment before realising it was only available via apps - rang for first 3 days of holiday, but nothing changed and no one attended despite promising to. Spoke to maintenance girl, Shannon, who engaged in a full conversation with me without revealing she was the sane person I had spoken to on the phone previously . . . disrespectful!!! Asked for replacement fan in bedroom but although promised this was not provided. Fan was useless and apartment like a furnace - thank goodness weather became cooler during our stay. DO NOT STAY IN APARTMENT 3 DURING HOT WEATHER!!!

The positives - great location, as the apartment is within very easy walking distance of the railway station and the city centre. The apartment was clean and tidy and modern. Great bathroom and all the facilities that you need for a short stay. However, the less positives are the layout of the sitting room. As it is a L shape, the TV is mounted on the wall just as you enter the room and you have to be very careful that you don't collide with it. The windows are all very small and do not open very wide. The weekend that we stayed was not particularly hot (22/23C) but the apartment was very hot and stuffy. It was difficult to sleep at night because it was so hot although the apartment comes with a heater/air conditioning unit but it is quite loud for sleeping. Maybe I overlooked the description but the bed was a small double. As the apartment is on the top floor, sound carries down the road and we were awakened on more than one occasion at 6 am by the delivery lorries to the pubs along the way. However I do appreciate that this can be expected in a city centre! Having said that, we were not bothered by noise at night from any of the pubs. All in all, we would stay in this block again, but not Apartment 3.

Small, but Adequate for Two People

Apartment 3 is on the top floor of a set of apartments off Toft Green. It's airy and comfortable and excellently located. Micklegate has lots of pubs, cafes and shops and just a few minutes walk over the bridge to York "proper". The kitchen area is good though it doesn't have a dishwasher. The main "problem" was lack of storage space. There's a coat rack in the hallway and a narrow dressing table but no cupboard space at all, not even in there bedroom where there's two round tables where you would expect to find two bedside cabinets. All in all we were happy staying here and would consider it again on our next visit to York.

Our 10-day stay was very nice. The apartment was absolutely sufficient for 2 people. I definitely recommend booking #3 in the Falcon Tap as it has an extra bedroom. The hot water didn't work on the last day, but since we were leaving, it was bearable and Stays assured to take care of it right away. The fridge was very cold even on the highest setting and the milk we bought for our morning coffee quickly froze. The outside noise was fine. The apartment's location is a dream because you can be in front of the Minster in just 8 minutes. Very central indeed! We would definitely book with Stays again.

Short break in york

Great place, stayed before in first floor apart 2, this is larger and more appropriate for 2 x adults. This time apart 3 top floor, much smaller but no issue as was just myself and young grandaughter. Only issue was having to climb multiple stairs which was not made aware of at time of booking and quite a struggle on a daily basis when managing back problems. Overall these apartments are in prime location to all shops, eating places and attractions, a short 10 minute walk takes you to the heart of York. The apartments themselves are spotless clean with all facilities and a pleasant quite by the city walls and grand hotel. definately recommend and would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Perfect Base to Explore York!

I had such a wonderful stay in Apartment 3 at the Falcon Tap! It was the perfect base for me as a solo traveler, as I was able to explore the city and be super close to the train station for day trips to the surrounding area. I work remotely and the kitchen table made for a great workspace with strong WiFi. It was also a fairly quiet neighborhood, except on game days. I was very comfortable in the apartment for 10 days on my own, though I'd imagine it may be a bit tight for two people for an extended stay. I would definitely stay again on another solo trip to York!

Great location at a great price. It was less expensive than the nearby hotels when I booked, plus it has the advantage of a kitchen for self-catering.
