Great location, comfortable and adequately equipped
We had a lovely stay very home from home with a perfect location. Would have been nice to have the heated towel rail on.
Great stay
Great location, comfortable, convenient, well equipped, Handy for city centre, buses, take-aways, restaurants & shops
Great location but needs a little attention
The location of this property is excellent 5 minutes from the Minster with the Shambles just a bit further on. York is a fantastic place to visit because everything is within easy access. The cottage was good and not so good. You enter through a door which leads into a passageway then out to a garden area. This whole area could do with a tidy up and maybe a lick of paint to brighten it up. The living room, bedroom and kitchen were clean and had all the equipment needed. However what let the property down was the bathroom. The shower really needs a good deep clean as with the shower mat. There was no where to put anything in the shower with just a broken little soap tray. The outside area was interesting, a little patio area and further on the upstairs occupants have bee hives. We thought from the description on the website there was only one bee hive however it turned out there was six of them which was very interesting when they came to work with them. Having said that we were never bothered with the bees. Really not sure if I would recommend this cottage or not.
Didn't stay, had to cancel
Unfortunately my wife was rushed into hospital the day before we were to begin our holiday and we had to cancel. Maybe next year!
Nice but worked needed
The annex was perfectly situated for a touristy weekend around York. Everything was within walking distance and theres a shop directly across the road for any essentials. The annex itself would have been lovely however, we arrived to a rather mouldy bedroom wall, stained carpets, lots and lots of cobwebs etc. We were really looking forward to having the use of the terrace included in the pictures. Again not very well kept, rubbish bags strewn around, weeds etc, and a shed which was left wide open brimming with clutter. Was a nice stay but for the money you pay I cant say I was too impressed with the lack of finishing touches. If maintained better would make more of a lovely place.

The cottage itself is very comfortable and well equipped. The location could not be more convenient, within easy walking distance of the train station. York Minster is right around the corner, as is the entire historic district and its many attractions. And the city's medieval wall? It's in the backyard. The property managers at Stays York are delightful. When we reported what proved to be a minor radiator problem requiring a routine adjustment, someone was at our door in 5 minutes. We would love to return to York and stay in this property again.</td> <td style="width:0px;"></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100.0%;" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td style="height:16px;"> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
The cottage by the wall
We enjoyed our stay in York , The accomodations location was really good for quick access to Yorks walled city, with easy access to the wall itself which can be used as a less crowded route to other parts of York on busy weekends This secluded accomodations work well for us with easy access to transport links too as a bonus

Review of Annex
Fantastic location! Nice little flat. Adequately equipped. Big comfy bed. Garden to look out at as well as part of city wall. Couldnt sit on terrace because of bees all around beehive in garden. Second visit so we knew all about access. Arrived on rubbish day so passage way a mess and difficult to access by disabled. Still no stool in the bathroom.
Great accommodation
This was our second visit.Apartment is like a home from home.Location only minutes away from city centre ,yet very quiet. Pretty garden view(although grass could have done with a cut).We really enjoyed our stay.

Gem in the centre of York! Lovely property with the added bonus of a patio and garden. Excellent shower, well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed.
Great location, walking distance to all the main attractions.
Excellent location. Loved the fact we were in the city centre but once the front door was closed we could have been in the country !
Short stay in March
Perfect cosy cottage in city centre, comfortable, clean and bright with low key garden. Super comfy bed and well appointed throughout, we will be back!
Fantastic Location and lovely annex
A lovely place to stay in the centre of York. It's a large one bedroom flat with a decent sized garden. You would never know you were next door to a pub. It's so quiet. It is truly a home from home a lovely comfortable feel about it. I definitely would stay here again if returning to York.
Good stay with some issues, most of which were addressed by agent, but not all.
To enhance the stay which we enjoyed, we would make the following minor comments: Limited kitchen equipment; Advertised coffee maker not working; The flat is not ideally suited to disabled people because - its Exterior access was poor - restricted with refuse and paint pots- untidy; Not ideal on arrival because correct door was not marked - sign on correct door needed; Back door blind not functioning; Bedroom overlooked from pub; Lovely flat - these small improvements would enhance the stay. Very enjoyable fortnight.

Cosy, spacious apartment with every amenity and very central. Everything was so cosy and clean and excellent! A wonderful, flexible space, perfectly situated. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
Nice stay but not quite as good as expected
We had a great week in York staying at the Annex and would consider staying there again but there were areas that did not meet our expectations and we would probably look for something else nearby. The house is comfortable and well furnished and the location in terms of visiting York attractions probably could not be beaten. It was however the outside space that sold the property to us and unfortunately there were some issues. The wild garden look at the rear of the garden by the amazing city walls was great and the beehives really interesting with the old walled turret a unique view, however the patio was covered with weeds and dead flowers (someone must have come in on the 6th day and just pulled out the worst of these), the grass was unkempt, uncut all week with quite a lot of old animal excrement and in general there was broken pots and bin liners full of who knows what strewn around the garden. For awareness the garden is sandwiched between a pub garden (pub was quiet and very pleasant) and a Vegan kebab restaurant outside area, there is some noise during the day but it was never a nuisance and for us tended to enhance sitting out there (that with people looking over the walls) made sitting out quite atmospheric Inside there is nice furniture, plenty of room, a comfortable large bed, good tv and an excellent shower. Only complaints is the large beautiful old wardrobe but with just a single hanger (no parking so most people would I guess travel by train and not bring their own) and the cafetiere was not cleaned from the previous guest (apart from this the cleaning had been very good). Reading this back it comes out as more negative than intended. It is a nice apartment with a close to unique outside area that just needs the real selling point of the garden cleaned up and better maintained. Hence I would recommend subject to this caveat
Very satisfied customer
Very satisfied customer Would definitely stay again as location was perfect and would highly recommend this place

This beautifully appointed apartment has a beautiful garden and patio in the back yard. The glass doors out to it full the living room with a relaxing view right in the centre of York. You can walk to museums and the cathedral and my husband used a walker. groceries were close. Ancient city arches and walls. It was a trip through time in York, starting before the Romans were there. I would definitely stay here again. The management staff was very helpful and nice

“The Annexe was immaculately clean, spacious, well appointed, warm and comfortable. It was a great location within easy walking distance of the Minster and other places of interest and restaurants. The host was very helpful with quick responses to any queries we had. Highly recommended.”

Loved the apartment and York and look forward to returning soon. Excellent location, just outside the city walls, close to restaurants and bars and a Sainsbury's Local, you wouldn't really know it was there at all. Good pub, The Gillygate next door, maybe too close for us as we like a few scoops! The apartment was lovely, comfortable and well appointed with a nice seating area out the back looking up at the historic walls. We would definitely stay here again when we return to York.

The Annex is a fabulous place to stay when visiting York. It is spacious and very comfortable with your own patio area over looking the garden and the stork wall. Lovely little cafes very nearby. It is a 5 min walk to get into the York walls and the attractions that York has to offer. We would love to stay here again and will be recommending to all friends.
