Impeccable view of the Minster
The location of this property is top notch. You can sit on the couch and see the most spectacular view of York Minster. The location also makes it an easy walk to any town sites and shopping. I would note that the amount of stairs to get to the flat and inside the flat are many and may be too much for some. The bathroom is very large and the hot water on demand worked perfectly. The bathroom is on the same floor as the living and kitchen areas. This is lovely during the day, but daunting in the middle of the night when having to traverse the stairs to use the facilities. The kitchen is very small but has all the amenities needed including a large refrigerator. We absolutely knew there was no AC in the flat and thankfully the nights were cool. There were fans in the bedrooms but we had to haul one to the living room during the day to help cool that room. Because we needed to leave the windows open there were enough flies that we ended up getting some fly paper to help control them. Im sure there are regulations on having window screens, so Im unsure what solution would help. Our only real issue was roof construction that went on during our stay that we were unaware would be happening. However our host did communicate with us about the situation and offered some compensation. Check in and check out instructions were easy and well communicated. We love York!
Cosy, if slightly faded, historic building in the heart of the city
We've been staying in the Music House for decades, summer and winter. It always feels so familiar, and is so convenient for our needs, hat we're happy to overlook it's quirks. Be prepared for stairs but once you're up there the view of the Minster and the life around it is wonderful. Not so much the bells on Sunday morning if you're having a lie in but they add to the atmosphere and historical feeling of the house. It's an old property, showing signs of age but it's clean, comfortable and everything works. The kitchen is rather small but fine for preparing meals. The beds and linen are very comfy. It can get noisy in the summer and the pub down the street has live music until quite late which can get annoying. There's a wine bar downstairs but never hear noise from it.
We have stayed here many times and have again enjoyed another great stay
We have stayed here many times and have again enjoyed another great stay and have rebooked for November 2026. The appeal of the apartment is its location but also the way it is furnished.
Perfect location
We stayed at the music house during the summer holidays, and it was a perfect location to explore York. The view of the minster is spectacular, and it was lovely to hear the bells. The beds were comfortable, and the whole place was well equipped.

York is a magical city with tons to explore, Rosalinds place was right in the centre of it. We felt right at home, the beds were comfortable and she had left teas and snacks out for us to nibble as well as made some great dinner suggestions. As others have suggested noise isn't much of an issue if you stay on the back side of the house but I will say that if you are on the street side then you will hear everything but don't be surprised because the windows like the home are ancient and that's to be expected! Our last night we were fortunate to hear a quarter peel and got serenaded with bells for an hour, it was amazing!!

This was an amazing stay. The house was clean and comfortable. The host was great with communication and replied very quickly. The price was good and definitely worth it.

It was our first visit to York and was lucky to stay at Rosalind's with the outstanding view of York Minster. It was ideal being located at the heart of the city. Very cozy, beautiful and central. We were very happy with our stay.

This apartment was absolutely amazing. The location of it is beautiful. Out of the lounge window and front bedroom you can see the front of the cathedral and not just a tiny piece of it. You hear the bells ringing which we really loved and you are right in the centre of everything so it’s easy to get around. The apartment had everything you needed and was always cosy and warm. We had a family weekend in York and having this lovely apartment to come back to each evening was the icing on the cake. We will be back.

This is a BEAUTIFUL flat in a fantastic, historic neighborhood - seriously, the best view in York overlooking the York Minster. Rozz is a fabulous host. She responded to our questions quickly and made sure we felt welcome. As we stayed over Christmas, the flat was decorated and she generously left treats for us and our kids. The flat was clean and homey. The beds were super comfortable and there were lots of fluffy towels. This was a perfect place for our family to spend Christmas. The kids (teenagers) had their space to retreat to if desired but we all enjoyed relaxing in the living room together, too. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and cookware, tea and coffee, which made cooking easy, as well as a good sized refrigerator. Pubs, restaurants, grocery, etc. are within a 30 second to 5 minute walk outside the door. The cost per night was extremely reasonable and I would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone wanting a lovely, comfortable spot in York.
