This charming apartment sits within a grade 2 listed building which has been sympathetically renovated and manages to preserve the integrity of the wonderful original features.

Being the birthplace of Joseph Rowntree the building is adorned with old photographs and artefacts that give you a real sense of the history of the building.

Superbly positioned just opposite ‘The Shambles’, you really couldn’t be closer to all that the city has to offer. That being said the apartment has a great balance of being a quiet retreat away from any street noise.

Upon entering the hallway leads through to the kitchen/lounge and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with all the amenities you’d expect to find, such as a dishwasher, fridge freezer, Nespresso machine and washer/dryer. There is also a dining table to seat up to 4 for dinner.

The lounge is equipped with a sofa that can be converted to a bed to accommodate the occasional extra person.

The master bedroom is stylishly presented and features a king size bed and wardrobe alongside bedside tables. The bathroom of the property is very spacious and contains a freestanding, walk in shower and separate bath.

Although there is no parking with the apartment, paid for parking is available just a couple of minutes walk away at the Q Park where you can park for a full 24 hours for £19.

So central and elegant!

Such a central location, opposite M&S Food Hall - couldn't be better. The property was so elegant and provided all we needed, comfortable and so quiet considering it's location. Everything was clean and well presented. As per other reviews the shower is so small with no room to move , no shelf to put shampoo etc on - yet the bathroom itself is very big. Also the blind at the big window in the bathroom was torn and falling down. However, we loved staying there and would not hesitate to do so again.

Plus: location, comfortable bed and very nice costumer service. Good size for 2 persons. Negative: The smell of the hallway coming into the building was not very pleasent. Drawes for knifes and spoons etc was full of bread crumbles, cabinet handles in kitchen was dirty, microvawe owen not very clean. Could not find tablett for the dishwasher.

A wonderful week in York at No 5 Rowntree House

The property at No 5 Rowntree House was just spectacular. The interior of the building was very individual and the actual apartment was very quirky. Stays York were very professional providing us with all the information needed to enter the property and were available if we had any issues. We spent 7 nights and enjoyed our time in York. The location of the apartment/building is very centrally located and opposite M&S so being able to obtain provisions for meals was very easy. The only negatives were that the corner shower is very small so if you are of a "larger size" you will not be able to fit through the sliding shower door. Climbing in and out of the bath was not an option. The bed was advertised as "king size" but is more of a "queen size. Netflix was supposed to be on offer, but we were unable to find this on the TV or via any of the TV controls. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable, and we would love to come back to York for another visit.

Very central - literally opposite The Shambles and with easy reach of all the places you'd want to visit in the city. Also close to several food shops. Well equipped kitchen area and comfortable seating. The downside is that the bedroom is quite small and with little space to unpack; and the flat is up two flights of stairs.

Really lovely flat situated in the heart of York just opposite the Shambles. I had originally booked a larger accommodation however a couple of our party pulled out and Stays York couldn't have been more helpful. They provided list of smaller alternative accommodation and changed our booking over without a fuss.

Great place, right across the Shambles but in a quiet street that is tucked away yet in the middle of the city center. The apartment is in a beautiful old building. It was perfect for the three of us - there is a comfortable bed in the bedroom and sofa in the living room/kitchen area. Floor heating in the bathroom was a nice touch. Perfect location, M&S right across the street, great cafes and restaurants near by. Everything is within walking distance (York Minster, parks, Museum gardens). Highly recommend!

Delightful and well thought out flat. Perfect for a couple though there's a comfy sofa bed also. Good bed and linen. Great central location. Everything you need. Very quiet. Stays of York extremely helpful when we mislaid keys.

The flat was absolutely lovely. Check in/check out was a breeze. Location was amazing; right in the centre of York but without the noise. Everything in the flat had a high quality feel. The design and decor was elegant and chic. The bed was super comfortable. I loved my stay here and will definitely book again when I’m next in York.

This apartment is in a great location within the city walls and near to all the attractions. It is exactly as it appears in the pictures. I have no complaints. Loved that there was an M&S right across the street. Would definitely stay there again.

Superb location and a lovely apartment. The only downside as others have mentioned is that the shower in the bathroom is really tiny, which is strange because there is plenty of space for a bigger one. Otherwise absolutely great

The flat is in a fantastic central location to explore York while at the same time being set back away from the road so there is no street noise. It has clearly been recently renovated and there are large windows to let in plenty of natural light.

Lovely building, clean modern apartment and well equipped. Everything right on your doorstep. Our 15 year old says the sofa bed was comfortable and bedding was good quality. Stays York staff great and communication excellent. Can’t fault in any way would stay again.

Amazing Central Property. Amazing property right in the centre of York, very spacious with big windows and large rooms. The bathroom was great with the underfloor heating and the large bath. The bed was very comfortable too, and the kitchen was well equipped. We would love to stay again next time we come to York!

Amazing apartment ! The location is absolutely spot on. Right in the centre of town with all the amenities literally on your door step. But still very private and quiet. Beautiful flat with an amazing bathroom. Would 100% recommend and will definitely stay again.
