spacious apartment in an excellent position great to have private parking. new mattress badly needed in the smaller double room very uncomfortable. no ventilating window in the smaller double bedroom and no window at all in the single room which made the apartment very stuffy. air condoning would be an advantage as would replacement mattress make it 5 star as location perfect

Three of us needed a convenient apartment for a long weekend playing croquet. We travelledfrom Manchester by train and wanted to be near York Croquet Club, the station and close to the City. This was excellent, modern and well appointed with everything we needed for a great stay. Having two bathrooms was ideal. Friendly management company who met us with the keys. We had a great weekend and will use this place again.

We stayed as a family of 3 at this apartment and chose it due to the location advertised. It was very easy to find with the added bonus of secure parking. The building itself was modern and luxurious both inside and out. The apartment was lovely and easily accessible via the lift. It was clean, bright a spacious plus having two bathrooms allowed for privacy for our soon to be teenage daughter who likes her own space. It was a gentle 15 minute walk into the centre of York but not too tasking. We drove up for ease but the train station is so close that you don't actually need to take a car. The view out of the lounge window offered views of the river but be mindful that it's also next to the Royal Mail sorting office and you look right over the van parking. With this, you also hear the vans from 5.30am so if you're a light sleeper, the master bedroom isn't the best room for you. Also, the car park is around the back of the building so you have to carry your luggage to the main entrance as there is no space to drop off anything. So a couple of trips to the car could be in order. We found the apartment great value for money and would stay here again.

Adequate but needs updating

Four of us stayed at the apartment in November (two from Edinburgh, two from Shropshire) and the location was perfect as we all travelled by train. The accommodation was adequate, though the smaller double room was very small and we had to use the third bedroom for our cases and change of clothes. Our room was also quite dusty (especially under the bed) and the bed has one of its stays broken, though this did not bother us. Our main complaint would be that the accommodation as a whole needs updating: all the guides and brochures are between six and ten years out of date, the TV is very basic and could do with a Freesat box or equivalent, and the heating system with storage heaters is positively archaic. There are no heaters at all in the bedrooms, the bathrooms are permanently like saunas, and the sitting area is cold during the afternoon and evening. Fortunately we had decided to go out for all our meals, as the kitchen is poorly equipped, and much of the cutlery, china, and glass was smeared or dusty. After a long train journey, we found it disappointing to have to walk into town (in bad weather) to collect the keys - surely some means of picking them up on site could be arranged. Sorry to be so negative, but we have run our own Airbnb for three years and know exactly what makes visitors happy (we were awarded Customer Choice Awards two years running for consistent reviews of 9+ out of10).

This apartment is lovely and central and is very close to the city centre. We all loved the apartment. The only problem we had were the bed covers were full of hairs. Pet hairs and also human hairs. Not just in our bed but also the other bed. We only found this when we got into bed so was too late to do anything about it. The following morning I contacted the emergency number and after sending through some pictures the beds were changed. I don’t know what went wrong as the rest of the apartment was spotless. We would stay there again though.

Great location, 5 mins from the train station, right next to the river and across the bridge from the centre. Comfy sofas, comfy beds, everything we needed in the kitchen, very quiet apartment block. Staff at Stays York helpful and friendly as always.

Maintenance issues and no privacy during stay

We stayed Monday to Saturday. On arrival the fridge was not working- it was warmer than the apartment. We reported on Tuesday morning. Someone came in to the apartment and checked it out. We chased Stays York on Tuesday evening and were advised they had called an engineer but couldn't come until Wednesday. Fridge engineer came and said couldnt be repaired. New one ordered but wouldnt arrive until the following Monday. We had also reported that there was water seeping up through the laminate flooring in the hallway. On Wednesday the Owner accessed the property and called a plumber to look on Thursday. Emersion faulty so needed urgent repair. Plumber ordered part and we were told they would need access at 9am on the Friday of our stay. This wasn't in our plans but we accommodated. Then we were advised after 1pm that part did not arrive so plumber would go in on the Monday to repair. None of this is what we expected when booking a relaxing break in York! We had no provacy and had ro lock our belongings away daily due to strangers coming in and out of the apartment. The accommodation should not have been rented to us in that condition! Stays York acknowledged that we had been inconvenienced, and did offer us the equivalent of one days rent as compensation. We did not consider this adequate compensation. They were not willing to negotiate a reasonable amount and we were more or less told take it or leave it. We won't be using them again in the future.

First, the communication and assistance we received from the team at Stays York was perfect and more than expected when we could not find the office, so they came to us. If we could suggest that not so much documentation be sent beforehand as having to print it is costly. All we needed to know for arrival was where to collect the keys, where to park and how far the parking is from the front entrance. The information/welcome guide once in the apartment is thereafter sufficient. As far as the apartment is concerned; it was more than adequate but extremely cold on arrival. The welcome guide instructed not to change the temperature as it would automatically come on depending on the outside temperature. This was not the case; several hours later after sitting with blankets we did change the temperature. However, we had to continually turns them up before they kicked in. Consequently we slept the first night with an additional duvet. Can we suggest that someone puts on the heating at least half a day before arrival as when an apartment is left empty for more than a week it takes too long to heat up. Other guests should be aware that it is not a quiet apartment, due to proximity to the rail station and Postal sorting depot. Only bedrooms 1 and 2 each have a window and the blinds are inadequate to block out the light; in fact the 2nd bedroom window is into the corridor of the building so the lights were on all night. Location and parking perfect but park in front to unload as it is quite a walk with suitcases. Condition of the apartment super. Cleaning - we found a large dog chew under the dining table? The main bathroom drain had not been cleaned for quite a while, so the smell was very unpleasant. Without the right products I cleaned it the best I could. Some of the cutlery had not been washed properly and the inside of the drawers had crumbs. Sorry our feedback is late but we only returned to Luxembourg yesterday and had not access to a PC whilst away.

Lovely apartment, clean, well appointed, had most of what we needed. Very easy walk into town. Quiet apartment block and heard no outside noise. Helpful concierge in the flats too. Two minor points, WiFi was terrible, gave up and used mobile in the end. And the double bed in the 2nd bedroom was really squeaky.

Nice apartment, comfortable, clean and tidy. Very convenient to walk into the centre of York or have a walk along the river Ouse weather permitting. The apartment was well equipped with everything and the welcome pack of tea, coffee etc. was appreciated. As we arrived on a Sunday we were greeted by Brian and his wife who were both very helpful which was much welcome after a long and tiring journey. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

A comfortable stay. We had an issue with the key fob for the secure car park. It wasn't in the apartment when we arrived on Saturday 15th June. I needed to make other arrangements to park my vehicle securely overnight. The following morning I contacted Stays York. The lady on duty was very apologetic and she delivered the fob to the apartment about an hour later. A very comfortable stay and very convenient for catching our train on Tuesday 18th June.

This was the perfect location for my needs. Park the car in the secure gated parking and forget about it for the duration of the stay. Just a 10 minute walk to the Minster or to the railway station or National Railway Museum made this the ideal location for our needs. Walks/runs along the Ouse gave great views of the city. The staff at Stays York were very friendly and helpful when I asked to extend my stay by a further day. The presence of a concierge in the apartment block was also very helpful. Apartment was very well appointed.

ideal location - close to bus stop and railway station for day trips to seaside, Leeds, Harrogate as well as leisurely stroll along river ouse or exploring York city centre. Two Bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as fully equipped kitchen make a comfortable home. Friendly staff and a helpful welcome pack with original Yorkshire products as well as plenty of information leaflets about tourist attractions in the region make your visit easy going.

An excellent location for a lovely apartment to use as a base for our short break in York. The staff in the office were so helpful & sorted out the keys for us when we got held up on our journey. The lady who met us at the flat with the keys was also brilliant making sure we knew where everything was and even helping us take the bags upstairs! The parking space is a real bonus to the flat as well. The flat was well equipped with everything we needed (maybe a cafetière would have meant we could use the lovely coffee from our goodie box!) and the 2 bathrooms were a boon for 4 adults trying to get ready! Definitely on my list for a return visit

Lovely apartment, it had everything you needed, lovely comfy beds , very warm though, as property was sun facing & the fan was loud & only normal tv , so we took a fire stick with us , the post office sorting parking was outside & we thought we would be woken up early with vans coming & going , but there was no problem at all , would definitely stay here again

We stayed at the apartment for the purpose of visiting the races and sightseeing in York, and the location of the apartment was great. We were a little apprehensive at first as it overlooks the Royal Mail sorting office, but if the windows were closed there was very little noise. The apartment was clean and was very well equipped. Stays York we’re extremely helpful with a query I had prior to arrival. All in all a very pleasant stay and would recommend and book again.
