Claremont Terrace, just outside the city walls is in a great spot for getting out and about in York. Perfect for families, this spacious house boasts a bright living room with bay window, comfortable seating and flat screen TV, great for relaxing after dinner or making plans for the day. The dining kitchen is fully equipped with everything required to cater and look after the family, and leads to a sunny courtyard with dining furniture, there's also a more formal dining room on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a lovely double bedroom, large twin room and toilet, on the top floor there is a further twin bedroom, family bathroom with shower over bath and a great little playroom with sofa & small flat screen TV.
Located a short walk from the city centre, just off a bustling street with a great range of shops, restaurants & cafes so breakfast, lunch & dinner are all sorted!
Pets are welcome downstairs in the property and there's also permit parking included for 1 car.

Property not cleaned atcartival
8 January 2024
Be very careful of Stays York. Family of 5 with neurodivergent children and emotional suport dog arrived to property, time agreed and fully paid .Property was in a complete dirty state that included soiled beds, towels piled in corners, just to mention some issues. Stays York couldn't find a) suitable cleaner b) suitable property. At 7:30 pm we were left on our own to find accommodation that we have to paid again. We lost bag of food as new location doesn't included a fridge, family holidays disrupted as have to contact Stays York loads of times to request total amount paid to be refunded. Stays York only wants to refund 2 nights of 3.Be careful you run the risk of a holiday nightmare.

Dear Adriana,
Thank you for your review. We are really sorry about the property not being clean on your arrival. Unfortunately it looks like it was completely missed by the cleaners.
As we explained over the phone, we would have been able to have the property ready first thing the next morning, but we do apologise that this solution or the alternative accommodation we offered for the night were not suitable for you. Please be assured that your comments have been taken on board by both the team and the cleaners, and we will do our best to ensure the situation will not happen again.
We hope to welcome you back to York in the future.
Kind regards
Rosie

Great location and a comfortable stay
27 August 2023
We stayed in this property for a week and had a great time in York. The location is fantastic and was a bonus to have parking outside the property. The house was plenty big enough for us 6 and was tidy and well presented. A few minor negatives - 1) It was annoying that we only had 6 knives, 6 forks and 4 tumbler glasses as we were forever washing up small amounts. 2) One side of the toaster didnt work 3) The pillows could really do with replacing as they are quite lumpy and I found them to be a little uncomfortable 4) although the property was mostly clean throughout, I did find quite a thick amount of dust on the carpet and skirting board under the double bed 5) the property has a washing machine and a very small clothes dryer. An addition of a retractable washing line and pegs would have been great to be able to dry a load without having to use the garden chairs to hang clothes on. These negatives are very minor and definitely wouldnt stop me from staying in this property again. We really did have a fantastic stay.
A good spot.

The location was great! We were so close to the centre of the city. The house had plenty of space for a group of friends, and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch.

Upside, fantastic location, 5 minutes walk from Minster, convenient for Sainsburys and Coop, plenty of accommodation for 6 people, house had everything we needed. downside, no parking, public rooms small, TV in upstairs lounge not connected, no toilet on ground floor, unable to adjust temperature in shower, gas hob unit faulty unable to light 2 of the hobs, in general the house is a bit tired.

The house really suits us in layout and especially city centre location. It is clean and well equipped. Cant park on street and Nearest car park very expensive we used just park app but it was a long walk to fetch car but didnt need it much. Recommend ice cream in front of art gallery by Bootham Bar, Everyman cinema, museum gardens. We had a lovely stay.

Really enjoyed our stay. Amazing location close to everything we needed. The house worked really well for a family with teenagers. WiFi and a room each. Kitchen well equipped. Quite a bit of stair climbing as toilet on first floor. We enjoyed a wood fired pizza in garden of Bistro Guy on Gillygate, the walls walk from Bootham Bar to Monks bar great views of Minster with breakfast at Wheldrakes cafe.We caught bus from station to end of Claremont street on arrival but its an easy walk anyway. .
A great stay in /york

Return to York after 55 years with 5 siblings

House position excellent. Kitchen crockery, cutlery very good. Casserole dishes too few .No lids for saucepans. Oven smelt of burning ,not clean at all .. 3 pages of instructions for wood burning stove and only 2 logs .It was cold in the evening . We did phone about this and was told we had to buy our own. Where from ? As we were 5 adults We all felt there should have been a second bathroom or at least a downstairs Loo/toilet. A three day stay was sufficent Despite the drawbacks the situation is perfect with most sites, shops and restaurants close at hand. We much enjoyed our visit but felt the house could be improved on . Pillows not comfortable.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, we will certainly look at the saucepan/ casserole dish situation. The wood burner situation is new to us and we are working with the owner to rectify the situation. With regards to the bathroom, the house is advertised as having a bathroom with toilet and a further separate toilet, having a further toilet is not a possibility.

A great family place to stay in York

Superb house and location. Lots of space, v nice detail with the playroom. In wintertime I'd advise slippers or warm socks as the floor was cold. Also the heating system took a few days to get to work. We all loved our stay, incl. the children. Considering coming back another time. Service from the office was helpful and efficient.
