What to do in York this summer
Can you believe summer 2019 is already here?
Here are some of our top suggestions for what to do in York this summer!!
For the perfect escape this summer visit Thor’s Tipi in the grounds of the Principle Hotel (right next to the Railway station!) It is the perfect place to met friends for a drink or to chill with the family in the beautiful grounds of the hotel. The Principle are also doing a few outdoor cinema evenings in June and July. You could find yourself watching ‘The Greatest Showman’, ‘Mamma Mia Here We Go Again’ or ‘A Star Is Born’ under the stars.
Every summer York Maze is the perfect family day out. Not only is there a giant maze to find your way around, with a special theme to be announced soon, there are plenty of other activities. From The Corn Snake Tower Slides to The Jumping Pillow, there is something to keep everyone of every age entertained and make it worth the money. Don’t forget to keep an eye out and say hello to Kernel and Sweetie who you will see wandering around the park.
The Great Yorkshire Show
The Great Yorkshire Show is a spectacular yearly event in Harrogate, running from Tuesday 9th-Thursday 11th July 2019. Just a short 20 minute train ride from York and well worth a day out if you are wondering what to do during your stay in York. It brings a collection of food, crafts, fashion, farming and many other events which you can absorb yourself in.
York Dragon Boat Race
The yearly York Dragon Boat Race takes place on Sunday 14th July this year and is a fab event to go and see if you’re in York. The day runs from about 10am – 4pm so if it’s a nice day (fingers crossed) you can set yourself up with a picnic and enjoy the festivities. Each dragon boat team is raising money for a charity of their choice so it is a wonderful way to show them support and help those in need at the same time.
