Welcome to The Arthouse! A one of a kind, quirky gem of a property that’s well equipped for any length of stay in the city. The house has been lovingly brought up to a fantastic standard by the owner and will not disappoint.
Upon entering you will be immediately struck by the fantastic sense of style and high quality touches throughout. Hardwood floors lead into the open plan living/dining area complete with comfy sofa, large wall mounted TV and complimentary Netflix account for your enjoyment. The dining area seats 4 for dinner and showcases regularly changing artwork from local artists with optional purchase available. There’s also a record player complete with a good selection of vinyl to peruse.
The kitchen has a rustic feel with solid wood worktops and unique cupboards. There’s all the amenities you’d expect to find such as a dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine plus thoughtful touches provided by the owner such as olive oil, salt/pepper, fresh milk, fresh orange juice and fresh ground coffee for each booking. There’s also a Nespresso machine, with pods provided for a little bit of extra luxury.
Off the kitchen there’s even a fab room with a little cocktail bar! If cocktails aren’t your thing then it’s a great space to spend time catching up with a good book. The back garden of the property has been transformed into a fantastic landscaped outdoor seating space that really comes into its own in the warmer times of year.
Upstairs the stylish and tasteful décor are continued in the house bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The bathroom is quite sizeable and is complete with a bath with overhead shower. The master bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom features a double.
Children permitted over 9 years old.
Permit parking for 1 car is provided.

Loved The Arthouse. Sharon has thought about all of those extra little touches to make you feel so welcome. All the furnishings and fittings are gorgeous and there is plenty of entertainment for cosy nights in (which we did 3 nights out of 4!) if you want something a bit different to the norm this is definitely the place to stay. Well definitely be back.
An absolute gem

The Arthouse in York is a cracking place to stay. It's super cool and stylish but it's not style over substance; it's a well thought out place with everything you need. The bed we used was extremely comfortable with quality linen. We slept really well as the area is very quiet. Parking was easy direct in front of the property. There wa a thoughtful welcome pack provided. We'd definitely stay again and were sad to leave!

Really nice place to stay. Comfortable beds and very clean. Went for a couple of nights and enjoying every minute. Short distance to ciry centre. We had everything what we wished for. Definitely coming back.
Fantastic Break In Amazing York

Had a fantastic stay in The Arthouse. It's a brilliant cosy base for visiting York. The house has everything you need for a break away and for a similar price to a hotel in the city, you get an entire house! Welcome pack was a lovely touch. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes to walk to most of the attractions in York which we did. Loads of great cafes etc on the way in to break the walk if you are tired! The information pack provided by the owner is brilliant with loads of suggestions of places to visit ( cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops etc) Free parking outside the house in a quiet residential street is also a plus- Parking in York can be expensive! Would definitely return and recommend to others.

The house was lovely and clean and we had a lovely gift basket of goodies for us when we arrived. The town is a short 10 minute walk so the location was perfect. The area was quiet ans the beds were very comfortable so we slept well. Would definitely book again

Stayed with friends for a theatre trip at the weekend! House very special, a little gem! Everything you could possibly need provided and immaculate condition. Super comfy beds, cool looking furniture and a short walk to Micklegate means this house is a good location for access to the city centre. Friend use a parking app to park on someones drive and we had an extra parking permit sorted for our stay so parking not a problem for us. Highly recommend and owner so lovely and helpful. Will be back for Christmas shopping trip!
Beautiful home in a great location

We were lucky enough to stay at the Art House last weekend. The house is in a perfect location, just a 10 minute walk to the centre over the railway bridge. The host has thought of everything, even down to fans in the bedrooms and a lovely bottle of fizz in the fridge. We would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.

Beautifully decorated and furnished. The location was excellent. A short walk from the city. The home is very comfortable and spacious. Also, they provided all the basic necessities. I would definitely stay there again if I am back in York.

The accommodation was beautiful, very cosy and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The added touches of boardgames and the record player were fabulous. I had a great time reliving my youth listening to the LP's whilst we played the games. It was lovely to receive a welcome goodie box and I would definitely recommend The Arthouse for anyone visiting York.

My friend and I visited York together for the first time in 40 years so the Arthouse made for a perfect base to reacquaint ourselves with the city. I travelled by train so the house was a 10 minute walk away, and my friend drove and there was a parking permit provided by the host. Over the weekend we did a lot of walking, visiting everywhere we wanted to on foot, including the Minster, the Shambles and Stonegate and the city walls. The house is amazing. So comfortable, the host really thought of everything. Her own artwork was on the walls, the furniture was mostly beautifully restored G plan and suited the property and decor perfectly. On arrival we had a welcome hamper and essential provisions were provided also. The beds were super comfy, the house was toasty and warm, the TV was huge, there was a record player and board games. The kitchen was well kitted out and the bathroom was large, with a massive bath and great shower. I would definitely recommend. Thank you :-)

The Arthouse represents everything I look for in a holiday rental. I’m pretty particular, but this beautiful character property ticked every box and had the magic formula of style and substance.
It’s always delight, a little bit like Christmas, when you arrive at a holiday property and find a hamper. In addition to that, the lovely host Sharon had also left juice, milk and fizz in the fridge. Where other properties leave you wondering whether you need to pack everything but the kitchen sink, The Arthouse has everything; tea, coffee (including coffee machine and cafetiere), salt, pepper, oil etc, plus a wealth of crockery, cutlery, knives and glassware. It was great to see the whole house stocked with environmentally friendly products, and everything you could need from hand soap to shower gel and so on – and plenty of loo roll. Also, the mothership, big fluffy bath towels that leave you wondering why 5-star hotels the world over only seem to leave you with something little more than a hanky to wrap yourself in. For those gloomy British weather days, there are board games, books and a wealth of streaming channels to keep you entertained.
The wonderful quirks of the property leave you wondering what ideas you can steal for your own home; a cool retro cocktail bar, record player, and multitudinous well selected vintage pieces and the work of local artists adorn the property.
Clean and fragrant, with a great garden, comfy beds, free parking, plenty of info about what’s going on locally and easy walking distance into the beautiful historic city of York, I don’t think any guest visiting The Arthouse could be left wanting. Thank you Sharon for an exceptional weekend.

Everything we needed was prepared for our stay. The location is perfect for exploring Yorks History. The Walls, Museums and Gardens, The Art Gallery, beautiful old streets with unique shops and of course York Minster. The ArtHouse is a successful example of modernising a character property into a comfortable, relaxing and unique stay in the magnificent city of York.

This was simply one of the best AirBnB experiences we have ever had. The Arthouse is a beautifully designed and comfortable place to stay only minutes walk from all that York has to offer. Excellent high quality stay! The location was fantastic, but the best part was the house it’self, it had EVERYTHING you needed and with a hostess with the mostest by greeting us with a hamper and a bottle of fizz!
